Fostering in four easy steps.

  1. Contact Us
  2. Home Visit
  3. Assessment
  4. Approval

Step One - Contact us

There are more ways to contact us than you can shake a stick at.
Ok, ok, in fact there are four ways to contact us….

  • You can fill in our ever so simple on line enquiry form
  • You can just email us at info@abcfostering.co.uk
  • You can text the word ‘foster’ and your name to 07880 723365
  • You can call us on 0800 032 2005
  • Once we’ve heard from you we’ll give you a call back, to answer any questions you may have and to ask you a few questions as well.

If everyone’s happy, we’ll move onto…

Step Two - Home Visit

This is arranged at a convenient time in your home. It gives us the chance to see your home and talk things through, and you the chance to ask any questions and discuss whether fostering is right for you.

If everyone’s happy, we’ll move onto…

Step Three – Assessment

We ask you to complete an application form, which gives us permission to carry out all required checks.  At this stage, you will be allocated a social worker who will come out to your home several times to assess and prepare you for fostering.  During this stage you will be asked to attend our specially designed preparation group training, where you’ll have the chance to meet other prospective foster carers as well as approved foster carers.

If everyone is still happy we’ll move onto...

Step Four – Approval

Each fostering assessment has to be presented to a fostering panel.  The fostering panel is an experienced and friendly group of people who have professional or personal experience of fostering.  It is their job to reach a recommendation about whether to approve you as foster carers.  Their recommendation is then considered by the Managing Director of ABC, who makes the decision.

Remember, ABC is here to help you every step of the way.
