Why choose ABC?

We provide foster homes, not placements

There are loads of fostering agencies - how do you choose which one to join?  Here are just a few of the reasons we think ABC is just a little bit different.

We provide foster homes, not just 'placements'

At ABC we’re not interested in just providing ‘placements’ in a care system.  We support you to provide a real home to children, somewhere they can truly belong.  This makes the role more rewarding for you and life-changing for children.

We're big enough to be respected; but small enough to know each of our foster carers individually

Some fostering services have so many carers they no longer know who's who.  We pride ourselves on knowing all of our foster carers really well as people.  Our manager comes out to see you at least once a year for a full and open discussion about the support ABC provides.  We attend all meetings with you.  We come out when a child first comes to live with you to check you're doing ok.  All of this means that when you pick up the phone you're through to someone who knows who you are, not a call centre.  You'll never hear 'dial 4' for support on a recorded message at ABC.

You receive excellent, free, expert training

At ABC, we pace the training to suit your needs.  We know becoming a foster carer is a big step, so we help you to plan and prepare for your new role, based on the very latest research.

You receive generous and easy to understand financial support

Many fostering agencies make the financial payments very complicated, so you don’t know quite what to expect and when to expect it.  It doesn’t have to be that way!  At ABC we don’t do complicated.  We keep our payments simple and our allowances generous, leaving you free from worry to concentrate on the most important thing - offering the best possible care.

You are allocated a worker immediately to help you every step of the way

Let’s be honest, being assessed is no-one’s idea of fun.  The idea of someone writing a report on you can be a bit daunting.  But the feedback we receive tells us that we make the process painless, easy to understand and yes, even enjoyable.  At ABC we don't use independent assessors - we introduce you to a social worker who will go on to support with your fostering once approved.  Fostering is all about relationships, and we don't see the point in asking a stranger who you'll never see again to carry out your assessment report.

You will have dedicated and experienced support, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

With ABC you are not alone.  We know just how important back-up support is.  That’s why we make sure you have excellent guidance and support, just when you need it.  We pride ourselves on providing reliable and responsive support to all of our foster carers.

We are rated as Outstanding by Ofsted
